Gedmatch
This is not a DNA testing company, but a FREE database, where everybody who has tested at any company can upload their RAW DNA results. The website has several features to compare DNA, and also features to analyze for ancestry. This website was started as a way to compare results for matches between companies before the companies started allowing transfers. It is still very helpful now.
Create an account at Gedmatch
Gedmatch is a DNA database. It is free, and not afilliated to any of the DNA companies. You can create an account at their website.
The registration process is rather straight forward.
Transfer your RAW DNA file to Gedmatch
After you have created an account, you can upload a RAW DNA file. The link to do this is on the right side of the page under Upload your DNA files.
- Fill in the form with as much information as you have.
- Click on the 'Browse' button at the bottom of the page.
- Find the RAW DNA file you downloaded from one of the DNA companies.
- Select the file name, and click 'open' in this window.
- Click the upload button, and wait until you see the word 'Finish'. This can take a while!
